For an energy efficient operation of buildings an adequate modelling of the user during the design process is of high evidence. Furthermore the intuitive and robust usage of the building systems through the user is essential. Goal of the project proposal is the development and prototypical implementation of a stochastic model approach for the simulation and prediction of the user behaviour in buildings. The work will be focused on the interaction between user and building envelope in passive cooled buildings as well as the interaction between users and systems for room air conditioning with different cooling (surface and air cooling) and control (e.g. adaptive) strategies. Experiments in the room climate test facility (LOBSTER) at KIT, a field study at the E.ON Energy Research Center main building at RWTH Aachen University as well as a cross-sectional survey through Fraunhofer IBP are the basis of the project. Building on this, user typologies are defined and stochastic models of the user behaviour are developed. On the one hand those developments are integrated in building simulation environments. On the other hand new control algorithms are implemented into the building automation and concepts are demonstrated. This will be done in close collaboration with the industrial partner ABB who will be in charge to guaranty feasibility and practicability.
